Police say the man who was hit was running across the freeway chasing after a partially empty can of beer.

This is a somewhat old item I ran across but I needed to state that even though we here at 3bruces don't generally condone the waste of alcoholic beverages, this case is just a bit drastic! I mean, if it were a 25 ounce bottle of Chimay Grand Reserve or a limited production, individually serial numbered bottle of Fuller's Vintage Ale it might be a different story - but if you look at the picture, the man was chasing a can of Busch!! It's not even a "pounder" fer Christ's sake!

Not one in 10,000 knows who General Tso (most commonly pronounced "sow") was, nor what terrible times he lived through, nor the dark massacres that distinguished his baleful, belligerent career. Setting their chopsticks aside, patting their stomachs, the satisfied diners spare scarcely a thought for General Tso, except to imagine that he must have been a great connoisseur of hot stir-fried chicken.

Who was he?

See also "The Definitive General Tso's Chicken Page" for history and recipes.

What was clear was that the Peanuts characters, and the world they inhabited, deserved their own Tarot deck. Their world was rich and complex enough to portray all the different lives, powers and experiences shown in previous Tarot decks; and exploring this fact, it turned out, would reveal worlds inside the Peanuts comic strip that had previously been visible only in the depths below the humor, hidden between the individual panels of a world revealed to us only a few moments at a time. And in turn, the comparison would also bring out dimensions of the Tarot that had previously lurked behind layers of mystery, mysticism and apparent silliness.

Uh, I'm not sure that I agree that the Peanuts "universe" needed a Tarot deck - but it actually is very well done. It's pretty funny in a lot of ways if you're familiar with Tarot imagery...

Joe Strummer, the legendary frontman of the punk band The Clash, reported to be dead at the age of 50.

Would you see this movie? Would it be allowed to be filmed? Simmer down, its a joke.

Well, the reviews over at Rotten Tomatoes are pretty conclusive..."The Two Towers" garned 113 positive ratings to 3 negatives. My second trip, to a theater with MUCH better sound and picture, was well worth it...this movie, despite some slow moments, is absolutely incredible. I pity anyone who has not read the books at this point because trying to follow the characters being introduced and dropped by the wayside must be dizzying at this point! You'll be seeing more of Grima Wormtongue (it was nice to see Jackson use Brad Dourif's talent better than David Lynch did in Dune) and Eowyn...so pay attention to them!

I'd like to say that Smeagol (serious story spoilers in that link for the third movie if you never read the books) has got to be the most amazing computer graphic character EVER used in a film. Absolutely perfectly realized in every aspect. Hopefully none of the people I'm going to see The Two Towers with tonight gets wind of the fact that I got invited to a midnight showing last night! They'd freakin' kill me! I am still really pissed 'cause the idiot running the projector screwed up the sound and we missed an entire scene right after they started the film back up after the intermission...but that's kinda cool since now there still is something new for me to see with the gang.

My review? Same as last year at this point. Give me a day or so to wrap my head around it just like it took with the Fellowship movie. It's not the same movie, the pace is much different. Very rapid and rushed at points and extremely slow and detailed at others. Jackson did a great job of handling three separate stories at the same time though: well, almost four if you count the opening scene. The opening scene. The opening scene absolutely blew my mind! Not what I expected. I'm not sure what I did expect concerning that part of the story but that wasn't it and, once again, Jackson absolutely blew my mind by tackling something I wouldn't have expected. I won't mention it yet since many still haven't seen the movie but I will spoil it a bit...if you love the very beginning, wait until you see the rest of the story on that scene. Absolutely friggin' awesome!

My quick review is this: damn, the extended version won't be out until November! I wonder if we'll get two tower bookends with the Collector's Gift Set next year?

File this one under weird-ass hobbies. Walter Potter constructed scenes of various activities, including illustrating some childrens rhymes, using stuffed animals. Not toy stuffed animals like you fell asleep with at night as a child but real, dead stuffed animals. Isn't the picture of the real, dead, stuffed kittens sitting down to tea just adorable? Creepy but sorta cool!

Well, the holidays are almost upon us and that means that many people will have FAR too much time off of work. If you find yourself with some spare time on your hands why not head over to 9 Beet Stretch and listen to their interpretation of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. They've elongated the notes so that it lasts a full 24 hours...that ought to suck up some of that extra time!

It can't be stressed enough how important it is to have the shiny side pointing out. This is needed because the shiny side is most reflective to psychotronic radiation, while the dull side can actually, in certain environmental conditions, absorb it. However, as is illustrated in the instructions above, it is also wise to complement this with a layer of foil pointing shiny side in. This will keep your brain waves, which are also reflected by the shiny side, from being picked up by mind-reading equipment. There is a small number of aluminum foil researchers who believe that this may cause an alpha-wave harmonic to build up in the skull resulting in memory loss or pseudo-religious visions, but their findings have never been replicated by the aluminum foil research community at large. Even if their findings are validated, the risk involved is small compared to the potential of mind-intrusion.

Very funny stuff to be had over at the Aluminum Foil Deflector Beanie site. The instructions for making your own beanie are particularly humorous in a very restrained manner! I'd suspect if you don't get the jokes embedded in this site, your liable to actually end up wearing one of these things...

Unlike the other game I posted today, this one doesn't suck! In the same vein as the 360° Pong I posted a while back, this is a 360° Breakout game that seriously rocks! Great graphics and good gameplay...although it takes some time to get used to the weird angles and some of the gadgets that make the ball do unexpected things. Pretty cool though.

No sample pictures for this one...I just could not do that to our faithful readers! Somehow I personally feel that I could have led a happy, full life without ever having viewed any Lord of the Rings gay fan art. Wanna see passionate pictures of Frodo and Sam? How about Boromir and Aragorn? Me neither. Legolas and Gandalf or Legolas and Gimli? No thanks. View at your own risk! (Definately not work safe I really wasn't so sure about it at home either!)

The elves have gone rogue and Santa has called you, a professional hitman, to remedy the situation. Too bad Elf Shooter is much cooler in concept than it is in gameplay...

SHAZAM! Wow a Captain Marvel movie is in the works. I am so happy!

I love this kind of stuff. Here are floorplans for real castles.

I named the nameless hills and dells
I drank from yet untasted wells
Goin' mad off the hook just like a Numenorean
I got more rhymes than there's leaves in Lothlorien.

Yo, I'm harder than a Mithril coat
A hundred is the number of the orcs I smote
I battled Helms Deep and I took Minas Tirith
If you don't watch out, I'll make your ass dissappeareth.

Oh the pain! I have to give mad props to The Lords of the Rhymes, their lyrics are pretty phat - and you just HAVE to check out the mp3 on their site, it is truly tasteless! If you aren't a big fan of Tolkien I doubt you'll find much humor in this link....
